Thanks to all who attended the Community meeting tonight at Horace Mann Elementary. We had around 150 people in attendance. Judging from the audience's reactions, King County's proposal to sell 60 Acres South is not something the local community wants or needs. If this deal happens, there will be only one winner: Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association
King County representatives made it a point to say that they value community input, but it was clear that nothing the community says will change anything. To the County, the meeting was nothing more than a perfunctory exercise - a checkbox - required to get the job done.
King County Parks Director Kevin Brown also clarified the County's recreational priorities by saying (twice) that "soccer is more important" than the activities currently enjoyed on 60 Acres South.
